Who is Wes Huntley?

Just a man. A little ahead of my time but just a man….

I may be the newest face to the prepping world but I am no Johnny-come-lately to the prepping game. I was a prepper way back when we were called survivalists and thought of as those paranoid wackos who lived in cabins in the woods. Then a funny thing happened. As we approached the new millennium someone realized that most computers were programmed to accept only a two-digit date. No one knew how those computers would react when the date rolled over to 2000. Everyone feared the worse, including the launching of the world’s nuclear arsenals, when when we flipped from 99 to 00.

Suddenly, us paranoid wackos were joined by a whole host of new people who wanted to prepare for the end of the world. While still thought of as paranoid, they weren’t viewed as so much wacko any more. Y2K came and went like a mouse fart in hurricane but the prepper craze was well underway. Just four years later the US would be battered by hurricane Ivan and then hurricane Katrina just a year later. Prepping became main stream. Hundreds of prepping experts hit social media and all new emergency preparedness survival supply stores were created.

I have been a survivalist all my life. I have always sought to be as self-sufficient as I can be in everything I do. That cabin in the woods still calls my name. I could easily disappear into the wilds of Alaska and never be seen again. I never quite understood those who wanted to live in the Big Cesspool or any of the major cesspools of this country. but to each their own. There are preppers and survivalists there and maybe I can help them a little.

This will be my personal sojourn through the prepper/survivalist/self-sufficiency world. I have a unique perspective on most things. As an internet colleague puts it best, this is based upon my training and experience, which is vastly different than yours. This will lead us to different beliefs, conclusions, and opinions. And you know what they say about opinions.
